englcurric.jpgThe soprano Giovanna Beretta completed her studies at the “G. Nicolini” conservatory of Piacenza. After her Diploma in singing she specialised distinguishing herself as a finalist in several master classes under Franco Corelli and Raina Kabaiwanska.

She made her debut at the Holland Park Theatre in London in 1995 in the title role of Donizetti’s opera Betly.

After winning a scholarship for young operatic singers from the Società dell’Opera Buffa to the Teatro Fraschini of Pavia. She was awarded the starring role in the opera La Frascatana by Paisiello performed at the Theatre of Livorno under the direction of Alberto Veronesi (1997).
Subsequently she sang Serpina in La Serva padrona by Pergolesi under the direction of Claudio Desderi, Adina in Elisir d’ Amore at the Calderon Theatre of Madrid and at the Bonci Theatre of Cesena, Madelon in Le preziose ridicole at the Coccia Theatre of Novara.

In 2000 she sang at the Teatro Regio di Torino in M. Gurlitt’s opera Wozzeck.
She played the role of Despina in Mozart’s opera Così Fan Tutte (The Philarmonic Orchestra of Torino).
In 2002 she sang (in the role of Annina) in La Traviata directed by Placido Domingo, under the direction of Franco Zeffirelli staged by Fondazione Arturo Toscanini at the Teatro Verdi of Busseto.
Since 1999 she has performer in the main traditional theatres of Parma, Piacenza, Modena, Ravenna, Como ,Brescia, Bergamo, Cremona, Mantova in Luisa Miller (Laura), La Battaglia di Legnano (Imelda), Ernani (Giovanna), Rigoletto (La Contessa), Stiffelio (Dorotea), Lucia di Lammermoor (Alisa), La Forza del Destino (Curra), Suor Angelica, La Cenerentola (Tisbe), Carmen (Frasquita),Gianni Schicchi (Nella).

She has worked with Marco Bellocchio since 2002. She has sung in Addio del Passato, playing the part of Violetta in the opera La Traviata, shown at the Cinematografic Exhibition of Venice, in Sorelle (Sisters) shown at the Festival of cinema of Roma in 2006, and in the last film Il Regista di Matrimoni (The Director of Marriages) shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006.

She has recorded for Art in Concert New York and for Bongiovanni La Finta semplice by Mozart, that was performer at the Municipale Theatre of Piacenza (Octobre 2006).
She has played the starring roles in premieres in contemporany opera at Municipale Theatre of Piacenza, at the Comunale Theatre of Cagli (Pesaro ) and at the Nuovo Theatre of Udine.
In 2007 she sang at the Municipale Theatre of Piacenza with the A. Toscanini Orchestra. It was the premiere perfomance of the Titania la rossa opera composed by A. Liberovici under the direction of the well known actor Giorgio Albertazzi.
In the summer of 2007 she sang the part of Elvira in L’ italiana in Algeri by Rossini at the Operatic Festival of Fontanellato, Parma.
